I'm having very mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand I enjoy the absurdity of the original, but on the other hand I can't help but feel that it struggles to find a suiting narrative to get its story across. It feels more like a random collection of scenes, even if it isn't. The 1.2 version succeeds in making the narrative more coherent, but loses some of its personality in the process. Definitely worth a look though.

I adored this movie back in the day, and it seems that I am completely alone in that. I had just finished watching the Stranger series and I was craving more, not even knowing that this was related.

So much fun!

I liked this movie, but is this the one that blatantly steals the iconic scene from Once Upon A Time In The West?

If you're talking about the scene where Stranger has to keep his brother up to prevent his hanging, then yes. It's been such a long time since I saw Once Upon a Time in the West, so I can't remember if it has a scene like that. The music is from OUATIW though.

i just watched it again for the first time since 5 years maybe.
how many fading transitions can one put in a single movie?!

the thing with that scene from Once Upon a Time... is that it was intended to be a parody. Like all the Strangers movies, this movie features parodies of well known real life movies. the difference with stranger 1-4 though, is that in this movie, they're placed in the wrong context. you get thrown around from serious, to comedy, to dramatic to pure slapstick. this doesn't work.
that's because, with TOAK, i wanted too much. it's a bloated 'ideas and influences' extravaganza without a proper direction.

so with version 1.2 i had two options: go with flat out comedy or remove all the 'funny' parts and make it a more serious movie all the way. i went for the latter, given the 'story' doesn't lend itself for a slapstick approach really.

that it still suffered from 'funny look syndrome', as andres put it so well after its release, is something i can only agree with.
