The Birth Tab - Essay Film about VR

Hello friends,

Thought I'd share this, was a collage / remix of Second Life footage, inspired by the films of Chris Marker and Jon Rafman. Also spent hours zooming through Second Life using the Oculus Rift... a crazy life-altering experience...

Thinking of making a 3dmm 'Essay Film' too if I can think of an interesting theme to cover (any ideas?)

Enjoy!

Great video!

I spent a long time in Second Life with the Oculus Rift too, and would describe the experience the same way. It really is the first sort of vr "metaverse" experience one can have, and it's a very surreal glimpse of the future.

I made a thread about it. There are some cool pictures on the second and third pages. I also briefly started a blog about it, but I didn't keep up posting for very long. I got a DK2 but my computer couldn't handle it. It could barely handle DK1. So that was pretty discouraging, because I was/am definitely too broke to upgrade.

Hey, I love the video! I was going through your other work and came across Talking House and suninniT and had a melt down. I must have downloaded those videos yeeaars ago and forgotten they came from 3dmm/you. Over the years I've been obsessed with these two mysterious spooky clips, wondering where the fuck they came from and who did them. I had accepted the sad reality that I would never know.. that is until today. So yeah, it's great to see you're still making great things!
