Merge the Art Gallery with Off Topic.

There is no longer any reason to not do this.

still disagree with this since the "merge" = now it is accepted to post stuff in Off Topic which = those of us that don't think our stuff is worth posting in OT post it to TTF which = scattered

but i don't really care much, i'll gladly post all my shit to TTF, actually i probably would prefer this to posting in Art Gallery actually

so ehhh i guess i agree

How could whatever you're posting be "worth" saying in the Art Gallery but not Off-Topic?

cause art gallery is for all art no matter how bad it is

off topic you are expected to not make a totally shitty thread

ttf is for all threads no matter how bad it is

so i'd end up posting all to ttf. i already never make threads in off topic, i only make them in ttf.

I dunno, seems like it's more that off-topic is for threads that are serious enough rather than "good" enough, and I'd think p. much any art would qualify. but either way, is it really a problem if some art is posted in off topic and some in the ttf?

not really, just that its kinda scattered then.

also i can see some people posting their art to Off Topic (as will be expected without an Art Gallery), only to have it somewhat ridiculed if its not good, since it will seem like a self-promoting post which at the moment isn't so common in OT. or instead of ridiculed, the thread turning into a series of joke posts until it falls off the front page. Art Gallery has a certain expected form of commenting vs Off Topic that alone i have felt gives the forum a bit of a purpose. (i will say that i felt AG had a bit of over-positivity in the commenting, and i made an effort to start giving constructive criticism in every post i made in there to counter this, since i would want the same in my own threads... but overly supportive comments aren't that bad of a downside)

sure i care too much, i know. but just saying it actually affects what i'd share to a degree

________________

again though, i actually think im in support of this change on re-thinking it, because i do feel at home in TTF. plus most of my music stuff is jokey anyway, which goes well with posting there.

Yeah, unfortunately there aren't nearly enough creative people here anymore to warrant an art gallery.

I genuinely believe that merging them will actually inspire people to post more creative shit because most people will see it. The Art Gallery is like, a rejected forum right now.

On the other hand, it sometimes just takes people a while to comment on art gallery stuff, so those might fall out of sight in off-topic and people will forget about them before they have a chance to really check it out.

We should obviously merge CoW and the testing forum though.

I think it takes people a while because most people don't actively check the Art Gallery, and I'm not sure there's enough activity on this board for things falling out of sight to really be a concern.

I agree that, with our activity as it is, merging would only increase activity in our lifeblood forum.
