Oh, I forgot that Potatoes grew in Ireland too, seeing as a potato famine occurred there, which is why the Pilgrims set sail for what would later become America. I bet that Idaho potatoes were probably potato seeds exported from Ireland back in the, I think 1600s or something like that.

spot on! potato pilgrims. yes. also idaho potatoes are definitely irish, all from a single seed, if i remember right, planted after an adventurous swashbuckling voyage over the ocean from ireland to 'america' in 1606.

Well, it is an inside joke how Ireland is also a place where potatoes grow, alongside Larry Craig's homeland Idaho which is why I thought it would be funny to be a shock jock by saying "gay lick" as a pun on "gaelic". The gay bathroom sex scandal is the whole cause of this Larry Craig humor.
