Pretty great ending I thought, hopefully it was pretty unique to my playthrough. Also there's a short extra bit after the credits, so you might want to wait around.

I'm gonna say pretty much exactly what happened at the end so i can see if mine matches up or it can end completely different.

Kenny dies saving Ben. I'm in the motel, and that guy is gonna do me in. Clem comes out and grabs the machete to save me. I kill the guy. She shoots me in the head. After the credits she's in the countryside (i told her to go to the north of town and find omid and that lady who're getting a boat??) and she picks up a bullet, looks out into the distance and see's two figures?

I want it to be really different cause on the 4th and 5th episodes my achievements haven't unlocked correctly, might do another playthrough if it's worth it.

All in all, Game Of The Decade.
Woman who voices Clem deserves some sort of accolade, I was pretty much welling up towards the end.

My playthrough:

- Cut off arm in the beginning. All alone.
- Ben falls, Kenny is lost in trying to save Ben.
- Told Omid and Christa to go to the train.
- I kept the knife. Clem hits the Stranger with a lamp/bottle/coffeepot.
- Fought the guy. Clem shot him in the head.
- I told Clem to meet Omid and Christa by the train.
- Clem shot me. Credits
- Post Credits: Clem walks alone through a field, spots the two figures on a hill. They stop. Cut to black.

Any different? I am actually very curious as to what happens when you choke the guy out? I did that originally when I used my hands instead of the knife to get him. Then I had the option of shooting him in the closet or not. I assume he's playing possum and attacks before you can do anything?

Unlocked all achievements, but as typically with this game I couldn't tell what my stats were at the end.

Absolutely right about the Melissa Hutchinson (the voice of Clem). She did an amazing job. So did Lee. I can never hear the Hulu "limited commercial interruption" disclaimer the same way again.

Mine was pretty much the same as you guys, but it sounds like we had the exact same crew and made the same decisions anyways.

There is one thing that I haven't been able to accept and it's still irking me. It's how farfetched the the whole Stranger revenge plot went. The guy with the station wagon made it his life's mission to track these people down, despite the fact that they took a train a few hundred miles and he had a car and was somehow able to track them and park right outside the building where the plot required. I mean, come on, they could have done better than that. I would have been happier with some random pedo guy who just happened to be on the same frequency in Atlanta when they were approaching.

i think he was meant to be talking to clementine for a long time, hence knowing their plans ahead of time etc..

I dunno, it is farfetched.

yeah well, by the time Lee was bitten to the time he gets to the basement enough time has passed that no matter what he does he's going to turn. I think the option is there as a first-time shocker only.

If anyone dies they still turn.
I just took it as the bite+blood/arm loss taking it's toll.

Yeah, my theory is that the two people you see aren't Omid and Co, one of them is actually the protaganist/character you play as in Season 2. I reckon Clem will survive all series and you just fall into control of other characters.

even if all you read is what the article quotes it's still a very interesting perspective.

I don't think this was game of the year at all.

Good game for sure, amazing story but just shit gameplay.

And reading this last page it turns out all of your decisions mean jack shit anyway.

Best example being, yeah cutting off your arm or not, still the same ending. No difference. I chose to cut my arm off and then looked to see all the things I did with both arms and my guy was still doing everything with one arm anyway even before he started saying "my arm feels numb or whatever".

So yeah I ended up feeling ripped off by the end of it all. Although a cool, emotional ending it just seemed so linear for a game that is based on making so many choices.

Anyone here leave people to protect the boat? Does it still get stolen? I brought everyone with me and we got back Vernon stole our boat? Is this another instance of no matter what you chose you're gonna get the boat stolen?

Also did anyone here not steal the guys supplies in episode two? Does he still steal Clem and everything? What happens then?

Also I really expected Molly to come back or do something, which never happened, seemed like a waste of a character, season 2 maybe? I dunno.

I can only assume some of these choices will keep with the game for the next season, but still this game just was a bit of a let down.

it's really weird to me that games are basically rated according to 2 categories:
1. story
2. gameplay
what do either of those mean? my favorite game is Dwarf Fortress. it does not have a "Story" and the "Gameplay" is pretty opaque and labyrinthine. nonetheless, it's a fuckin GREAT GAME! like... i dunno. sorry, qaz, i didnt mean to shit on your appraisal of this game, i'm sure you're right, i've never played this shit

How EP 5 played out for me.

-I chose to drop Ben in ep4 so he wasn't around
-All 4 of us (Kenny, Omid, Krista) went looking for Clem
-Chose not to cut off my arm
-Kenny knocks walky talky into hole, Krista goes and gets it but can't jump up, Kenny goes after her and gives her a boost up but then gets attacked by zombies...off screen, may be alive or dead. Very weak, non emotional ending for such an impiortant character, very much expected him to show up and save my ass at the end somehow, never does
-Sign breaks off and I tell Krista and Omid to find a boat or something
-Find creepy dude in the hotel, he is pissed I took all his food and supplies and goes through a whole list of all the bad things I did.
-Clem smashes him with a lamp, we fight, she shoots him. I cover her with zombie blood and we leave.
-I die and tell her not to shoot me, although I should of, none of this matters.
-She gets away and finds the shotgun casings in the meadow and sees two figures walking in the distance

More thoughts on the game.

I didn't want it to seem like I didn't like the game, because I did really enjoy it. I really love games that just bring you into them. The story was fantastic and the characters ranged from memorable to forgettable. Same goes with the acting, I felt Lee had some great performances and speeches but at times some pretty bad acting would seep through. Same with Clementine, everyone seems to praise her acting performance but to me right from the start it was painfully obvious that it was an older actress doing a young girl's voice. It was almost cartoonishly childish. But none of that really mattered as I connected with almost everyone in the game. She played up the innocence of the child REALLY well. The game had some tough decisions to make that I would constantly question even when not playing the game. Constantly trying to run the moral roller coaster of being honest to Clem and trying to protect her from the terrible things I/We had to do.

However I kept feeling the sense of the game not listening to me. Make no mistake about it the core game play and core essence of this game is making decisions. You really get a chance to shape your own character and see how it effects everyone around you. In that sense it is fantastic, having other characters stick up for you later in the game because you trusted them makes you feel apart of this game more than other games have done in the past.

However, as the game moved forward and the episodes continued it all seemed for not. Most of the characters you spent time getting to know just kept getting killed and no matter what you chose nothing changes this. When paying close attention you could tell that a lot of the dialog was "stock" responses that didn't have to do with what you said, or were just slightly changed dialog that doesn't change much.

This game is tough to rate, Ep 3 is pretty much a 10/10 for me. When Lily shoots Carly in the face you get to decide whether to leave Lily or bring her with you, this wasn't a choice in my mind, I was that upset with the whole thing, shocked and disturbed. Things like that elevate this game above almost everything else.

But for every great moment like that there are moments like choosing to pull Omid or Krista onto the train, but they both end up on the train anyway. Things like choosing Carly to live over that other guy only to have her pretty much sit out the next episode and then die near the beginning of ep3 really just leave a bad taste.

Episode 5 just falls apart. I kind of hyped it up in my head as the huge "finale" type episode but it really felt very short. Having creepy guy list off all the bad choices you made was pretty great but as the game went on it felt more and more like moments of "he said the things I chose to do, ahh, yay!" dare I say cheap ways of making you feel like you are apart of the game rather than before when it really felt like you were.

I think I just feel a little jaded that in a game where it seems like the storyline is going to branch out into many directions it all just ends up and plays out almost the same way. In the end you get to shape your character and the dynamic of the group but I feel this game could have been so much more. But of course seeing your final moments with Clementine play out puts all those jaded thoughts to rest as the game ends on a nearly perfect final few moments.

As a huge fan of Heavy Rain, I've seen a game that takes this concept and does it 10x better and was expecting this to do so much more.
Is this a great game? Absolutely. One I won't forget for awhile. But the best game of the year? Best game I've played in a long time? No.

Finally got around to playing the last two episodes

Was kinda disapointed how they got rid of Kenny so quickly, considering he has been one of the main characters the whole game they could have at least gave him a rememberable death, instead of him just getting swarmed by zombies off screen.

The ending was great too, i think i remember Burgon or someone calling it earlier in the thread, the part where Clementine shoots Lee?

And what was that all about after the credits? I reckon that we will end up playing one of those characters next season

So yeah, great game, definitely better than i expected when they first announced it, and much better than most full priced games these days.

Can't wait til next season!

I enjoyed the first chaper (it was free with PS+) I wasn't particularly compelled to continue playing for two reasons. First and probably the biggest reason. Both your choices are the wrong choices it seems most times. IE the first choice you have I was like okay, which choice will save the person? Answer: Fucking neither. It's much less about answering a question logically and trying to solve a problem than it is about direct visual intentions.

For fucks' sake you fucking farmer I was trying to fucking save them.

Also, putting quicktime events that you cannot pass (the first one on the road) is dumb. I went back and hit it instantly and it doesn't even matter slightly.

Also, looking for shit in adventure games is annoying. I was able to get it without a walkthrough but this is the first game in a long fucking time I'd even considered it. I think if this was made by the guys who did Heavy Rain, so you'd get a little more direction and a little less tedium it would be a phenomenal masterpiece. (It would also hopefully have better production values and better animation)

I do love the characters, though. Great voice acting all around with good tense moments. I think that little girl is a Zombie from the start though, she scares me a little.
