Weird audio issue on my TV.

I've been noticing a strange audio effect while watching cable on my Samsung plasma television. It doesn't occur with any other media (that I've noticed) except cable. It happens randomly, and I haven't recognized a pattern or trigger to it. The sound itself is almost impossible to describe; it's sort of robotic/machine-like.

It sounds like the sound at ~0:24-0:25 in the above theme. Almost like a buzzing? I have no idea how to describe it, but it's unmistakable.

At first I thought I was going insane, because it is hard to put into words and my girlfriend couldn't hear it every time I pointed it out. She looked at me like I was fucked up and hearing things, and I almost believed her. Then I thought that perhaps it was an intended audio effect, like part of the ambiance or something. But today I looked up YouTube clips of specific scenes in which I remember hearing it, and the sound is non-existent (one example is the end scene to Sunshine). Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is playing in the other room, and I heard it twice in one of the Yoda scenes but not in the equivalent YouTube clip. So - obviously specific to my television and cable programming...

Does anyone know wtf I'm talking about, or have any input? At least now I know I'm not crazy and this isn't my psyche breaking down or ghosts trying to speak with me; but it seriously is annoying and obviously unintended and a problem.

More like 0:25 now that I listen to it, and it's like a "bwaaaaaahhh" sound. Not the one that sounds like a toad croaking.

That sounds kind of nuts. Are you nuts? Has your girlfriend hear it yet?

I can't think what would be causing that. Bad coax? Bad cable box? Could be anything I guess...

Dude, I know. I think it's the TV, because this cable box was hooked up to a different TV about 6 months prior and I never heard anything then.

This TV has some of the shittiest speakers I've ever heard. Granted, most flat panel TVs have awful stock audio, but this takes the cake. The standard equalizer settings are fucking terrible - it took me like 2 months to realize the bass was cranked very high. I actually started thinking one of the speakers was blown because the bass was that distorted, but after looking through the audio settings I realized that Samsung basically had a mongoloid program their presets.

Anyway, the audio issue sounds like robotic insects trying to speak to me... haha, that's the best way to describe it and I know it sounds nuts but I'm not. I promise.
