This review contains some spoilers.
The first thing I noticed about Humorville Final, apart from the fact that the letter 'u' was missing (yeah, you just knew I was going to say that!), was that after a couple of scenes in, it was pretty similar to Skitzophrenia. I haven't seen any of the previous Humorvilles before, but if the others were as good as this, I have got to check them out. This may not have made me laugh as much as movies like Videogame Nightmare 2, or maybe even Skitzophrenia, but I enjoyed watching the majority of the movie. I expected Humorville Final to have not so much of a plot, but I was wrong. We are introduced to Whofoundland really well, and even though it was pretty informative, Dean Francis still managed to add a couple of jokes in, which I chuckled at, and as a result, the introduction kept me entertained. I'm glad that this movie has some sort of plot, even though it is a comedy. No matter what the plot is, it just adds a little more depth to the movie and you become more engrossed in it. Of course, for Humorville to work, the skits must be funny, and fortunately, a lot of them were hilarious. Highlights include the guy constantly being stared at, the invisible tube, and the geeky baby. The unreturned CD, the toaster-collecting man and the old man telling the boy how to do things right (with a great finish to the skit) also got me into fits of laughter. It really is funny. Not surprisingly, there were a few skits which did not make me laugh. And watching most of the lesser funny ones, I got pretty bored, waiting for them to end. Skitzophrenia also suffers from this problem, but to a lesser extent, but still, it is only the minority of skits in Humorville Final which slightly bored me. Onto a lighter note, like I said with previous reviews on other comedies, the voice-acting has to be good to pull off a lot of jokes, and this is a good example of how it should be done. The voices may not be good as some of the others, but the quality of them are more than great. Since this is possibly the last Humorville title, I was expecting a great ending, and I was not disappointed. It was a nice and funny conclusion to the movie and it was well-tied up. But as you are reading this review, you are probably asking 'is it worth the download?' and to that, I would say this. If you would like to spend your time, laughing at skits, this is the movie for you. The start and finish of Humorville Final is done really well and sets the right light-hearted atmosphere. But if you don't laugh at many things, and you would rather watch a drama or some action, find something else. The sensible person would download Humorville Final and have a blast. 80/100 |
