Winter Film Fest 2005 and Spring Film Fest 2006 signups

Me and Goro are heading off this one, but there's a twist. There are a bunch of big movies sitting at near- or semi-completion and some smaller ones that aren't quite ready but definitely on the way. The idea is to host the annual Winter Film Fest at its usual time, but plan another one for the overflow of major releases or not-quite-finished movies in early Spring 2006.

I've talked to most people who have a major project on the way and I'll be reaching out to directors who don't often come to the board to see how they're getting along, so most of you are aware of this already.

If you seriously think you'll have time to get your project done in about a month, aren't working on a major release but would like to do a short, or are working on a major release and want to release a trailer for it, sign up for Winter 2005.

If you have a major release at, above, or around 50% completion and think you can get it out in three to four months, sign up for Spring 2006. The movies I have in mind here are Powerplay Part 2 (unless it's possible for 2005!), Legacy of Saradomin, D3MONS, and Ringworld Act One (though voice actors need to get their asses in gear, this one included).

This is a chance to make up for the sluggishness of 2005's releases, and counter the effect of production inertia by seeing so little progress on anything. If you sign up, I will have the whip to you on a pretty frequent basis. Anyone who signs up and then ducks out will never hear the end of it. Think of this as a good thing.

The Winter Film Fest will begin on December 15th. There's no date set for the Spring Film Fest just yet.

If I can get everyone's lines in by the end of this week, with some help I can get the 3DMM Game show done in about a month.

So, I'll definitely sign up if I get em.

Aaron Haynes 11-14-2005 07:10 AM

Denny is on right now. bpdenny on AIM. YELL AWAY

Breed 11-14-2005 07:11 AM

okay just for you, Aaron.

Destra 11-14-2005 07:32 AM

I'll definitely try and get Vigilante Part I out by Spring 2006. Whether Denny will be joining me or not is undecided so far.

Lord Blazer 11-14-2005 09:52 AM

I'll do a short for each. Snap.

Salter 11-14-2005 03:58 PM

Echondria will make the Spring show.
I'll get a full trailer out for the Wnter fest.

Richard Bevis 11-14-2005 04:02 PM

If it gets finished, I'm releasing Blind Homicide in the Winter Film Fest. If not then definately the Spring one.

Ben Rice 11-14-2005 05:07 PM

How I love Christmas.

Tysen

If I get my lazy fat ass in gear it'll make the winter film fest.

Aaron Haynes 11-14-2005 05:10 PM

Ben, the entire point of having the two seperate fests was so that you could finish a major release for the Spring one instead of shelving it AGAIN while you make yet another short. If you have a big film in progress (which you do), use the four months to get that done so you can release it soon rather than late 2006.

Warren Wagner 11-14-2005 05:12 PM

I'll probably have a short film the Winter Film Fest.

Tysen is a short movie. It's already half done because I started it during the Summer Film Fest. It was mentioned a couple of times as being the "secret movie by an unknown director", at least I think it was my movie...
I told Taco it would make the fest to make up for time while we were waiting for Derelict, in one night I managed to make up about a third of the movie before getting lazy and losing my inspiration to work on it. Since Halloween I have been slowly getting back into to the project so I can get it out for this film fest.
But when I have watched a couple of good movies and get my inspiration and confidence back, you can definatley be sure that Tysen will make the Winter Film Fest.

I dunno about "probably somethings". I want you to commit to it before I add you. I'm not adding a long list of films that end up dropping out. I know you can put together decent v3dmm films in a short amount of time (TTB was excellent, and only four days, right?), but wait until you have a concept and a title to sign up. Not doubting you can do it, but just want to make this a streamlined and definite list.

Gonna hold Kyle to the same standard, even though I know he'll come up with something soon as well. Make sure you're ready to be committed before signing up.

Okay, it's added. But what about TOATM? Could you get that finished in three months' time?

Ben Rice 11-14-2005 05:28 PM

Sorry man, but for the moment TOATM is on hiatus. Script troubles. Not to mention that I'm trying to change Tysens image for you guys but try and stick to the original design that I love so much and animating him and all the other HMCs is a total bastard job.
Maybe next year. :p
[edit] OMG new avatar.

Aaron Haynes 11-14-2005 05:43 PM

Delighted to have you aboard sir. :)

Pogo 11-14-2005 05:57 PM

Xmas PAM Musical. I don't think I need to tell you which FF it's aiming for :)

Gorosaurus 11-14-2005 07:59 PM

If you think you will have trouble making a deadline, LET US KNOW. We can and will try to help get you what you need to finish.

I am prepared to work very, very hard to make this a success. I just ask that you meet Aaron and I half way. Well, moreso actually, but still.

Ahh, I love the feeling of Christmas in the air

Saxon 11-15-2005 10:33 AM

Okay, I'll have my NOD trailer ready for the Winter Film Fest, as long as the voice actors co-operate. I'm not that worried about Jay and Buz, I'm more concerned about Jeremy. I know he doesn't come here that often any more and he doesn't appear on AIM, so anyone who's in contact with him just drop him a note. If he doesn't contact me by next Friday, I'm going to have to find someone else.

Otherwise, yeah, I enter my Nocturne of Darkness: The Awakening trailer.

Ned 11-15-2005 02:36 PM

Sanity Clause for Winter Film Fest... but let me be towards the endish of the Fest, if possible. The week of the 15th is finals week.

Orcus 11-15-2005 04:11 PM

Groan. Now Aaron's gonna bitch at me till I start working on Tea and Crumpets.
