I need help from people with STYLE.

I would have posted this in the Art Gallery, but there isn't any art here yet.

But anyway - I recently reorganised my entire room to account for some new stuff I bought (A double-futon, to be exact...I have a single bed aswell, I should rent this place out.) and in doing so I have a giant space in the middle of my wall where a nice A0-sized poster could fit.

Thing is, my room is a little colour themed and I can't really find any posters/paintings/other art that'd fit in well with the rest of the decor.

This is where you come in. To put it as simple as possible: I just need someone - anyone to play around and be artsy as they want in Photoshop/etc and make something that'd rule as being a centerpiece bit of art.

If you end up posting something awesome, I'll send off the image to a poster printing service which'll print it off in massiveness - then I'll frame it and shove it on my wall. If there's more than 1 good submission - I'll do a little bit of rotation, maybe change them every week/month.

Heck, maybe I'll do a poll to see what everyone thinks is the best just to be fair.

Here are the main colours in my room:

You're not limited to them, but it'd be awesome if you could use them. Oh, and try to remember; a single poster will be larger than a meter wide - so creating something in a high resolution/large size will reduce the amount of distortion in the final product.

Additionally - the ratio needs to be around 1:1.41, as that's the standard for 'A' sizes.

RARrrrRAARaR.

Edit: And yeah, before anyone tries - I was actually considering using that image up there surrounded by a tonne of white just to seem clever.

Digital Taco 10-30-2005 10:29 PM

i might do something.

Invader 10-30-2005 10:47 PM

lol. who the hell color coordinates his room, like some kind of metro sexual interior deisgner?

Demented Ferret 10-30-2005 10:49 PM

Yes.

Born Zealot 10-30-2005 10:51 PM

My room is navy blue and orange. I love it.

Kunio 10-30-2005 11:05 PM

Even if I somehow disagree with your idea of a good sleeping apparatus, the color scheme you picked is nice.

Demented Ferret 10-30-2005 11:08 PM

I didn't buy it for the fact it'd be GOOD and lovely, more for that fact it is cheap, big and doubles up as a sofa.

When I'm on my own - I still sleep in my single bed.

Kunio 10-30-2005 11:13 PM

Ah, good. I've been sleeping for years on a metal futon and it sucks.

Deano 10-30-2005 11:22 PM

I think you should have a picture that isn't red, but something that goes with that scheme. Otherwise the room would look weird if it's ALL red.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 12:40 AM

>: (. This is minen:

http://www.pherrett.com/renamer/uploaded/sprow1.jpg - didn't work out to be awesome as planned, so I'm DITCHING IT.

I've realised I have space for 3 more littler pictures in my room (about A4-sized) and already have the frames for them.

Also, the MAIIIN picture can be both portrait or landscape, there's room for either.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 12:41 AM

Oh, Taco did something and it fucking rules - I'm pretty sure I'll be using it amongst any others:

Jatz 10-31-2005 12:47 AM

ho carp, that's awesome.

Dungeon Snake 10-31-2005 12:50 AM

okay that wins. If i saw that in someones room i think i would be like "WHOOOOAAA MAN"

Qaz 10-31-2005 01:05 AM

Jatz 10-31-2005 01:07 AM

if i looked up and saw that in the night sky i would run home screaming.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 01:08 AM

Hahahahaha @ Qaz. Genius.

Michael Jeffrey 10-31-2005 03:11 AM

Just a sample, I'll do a proper A4 ratio one if you like it at high res.

Mikepjbell 10-31-2005 09:07 AM

This is only a random abstract, probably not suitable.

EDIT: SHIT, Sorry about the size!!! :(

Incredibly, incredibly hot - I love it.

Sinarach 10-31-2005 10:16 AM

That's right, nothing gets past me Sexy Collins.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 10:21 AM

Interesting you should say that because maDO ME SOME ART NOW, PLEASE.

Sinarach 10-31-2005 10:22 AM

Sure.

But it'll be $80/hr

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 10:25 AM

Each poster print is going to cost me $65US + $60US a frame anyway, no deal >: (.

30,001 cubes to be exact. Took me about 15 minutes to set up. I figured if it was going to be a massive poster then I could render it at a high enough res that you'll beable to make out the individual cubes in the distance if you got close enough to the poster.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 11:53 AM

Seriously requesting highest res you can of it, I really like it.

Michael Jeffrey 10-31-2005 12:09 PM

What size do you want?

also do you prefer landscape or portrait?

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 12:27 PM

Oooh, as big as you can in the ratio 1:1.41 (That's any 'A' size)- yours and Tacos look perfect for hugerising. And both portrait and landscape will work - but I think portrait would look better where I'd be using it, so whatever works best for you - I guess.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 12:29 PM

Doublepostzomg.

Kayl 10-31-2005 02:12 PM

Mikepjbell 10-31-2005 04:25 PM

hey that ones pretty cool, but i dont think people would understand it if they went into his room lol.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 04:37 PM

It's still really awesome. I'll definitely have that on one of the smaller pieces.

Smiley Man 10-31-2005 05:00 PM

vectorise it?

should be easy enough and you can have A-10 or something if you want

Pirate Balloon 10-31-2005 05:22 PM

Heres my entry, I think it'll look quite good on yer wall.

Demented Ferret 10-31-2005 05:23 PM

For the love of God, no.

Smiley Man 10-31-2005 05:23 PM

I second that.

oops - not DF's post, the one above

I'll render a huge version overnight tonight... and I've got a more accurate ratio (the actual ratio turns out to be 1:square root of 2... I never knew that). Do you have any changes you want made before I do it? I can fairly easily change anything in the scene for you... materials, lighting, camera, whatever.

Just picking a resolution out of my ass... 3000x4243? How does that sound?

Qaz 10-31-2005 11:23 PM

3000x4243 = 41.447x58.931 incues

Michael Jeffrey 10-31-2005 11:35 PM

inches?

Digital Taco 10-31-2005 11:36 PM

incues

Qaz 10-31-2005 11:55 PM

both

It's actually pretty perfect as it is - and that resolution seems perfect :)! Oh - and thanks a lot dude!

Demented Ferret 11-02-2005 08:25 AM

It's probably going to cost me about $90 a good quality print by the looks of things, I'll get Taco's done first and Guy's next week. Then any others in a smaller print probably over the same period. WILL POST RESULTS OF SEXYNESS IN PICTURE FORM.

HOWEVERS, t Taco: I know this may seem picky and irritating for yous - but is there any chance you can erase the stars that appear through the terrain at the bottom? The rest is amazing and awesome, just I'm not sure if that was intentional or not.

Still open to submissions by the way :) :thumbsup.

...We need the :thumbsup as a proper emote, I hate having to [img] it.

Lyntan 11-02-2005 11:30 AM

You should have a huge 'Jon Sprow is gay' smiley on your wall.

Demented Ferret 04-09-2006 08:02 PM

Bumpercars:

Terrible, terrible digital camera, this looks really awesome in real life - they're all extremely high quality photo prints; thanks Taco <3!

Getting two 40cmx30cm prints done as soon as I get some more cash, as well as three 20cmx15cm prints. I'll probably get Gavin's awesome cubepic printed, but I'm still open to submissions (and if they're good, they'll be printed 'n' stuff).

Lowgain 04-09-2006 08:38 PM
