Hello, 3dmm.com! This thread will be a text game instead of a usual discussion thread, and this time, it's a game of war, classic old chess! This thread will be similar to the 2001: A Space Odyssey scene of Hal and David playing chess, but instead everyone will be sorted in two teams and have the chance to make moves, playing one at a time. Along with a board-ified Hal working as a referee.

RULES:
1. Rules of chess apply here, nothing is changed from the basic rules. Basic rules can be found: http://www.fraserheightschess.com/Do...ChessRules.pdf
A reference for moves you may make is by starting up an online chess game, and replicating the moves thus far in this thread, then seeing if your next move can be made.

2. To move a piece, one must say the first two letters of one, with the possible pieces being, “KI QU BI KN RO PA”. Each smiley sized image, except kings and queens, has a number on it and will be said after the piece name, such as “BI1 ”. The person must then state where the chess piece will move using the column as a reference. A full message should look like, “PA8, H6”. Alternatively, one can use only coordinates to indicate where pieces move. Example: “G7 to G6”.

3. Chess moves must be color coordinated [black] [white] and the color that someone chooses as their first move will be the only color they can play until the game is finished. This is done to avoid sabotages and unfair play.

4. People must wait for the chess board to update before they can play a move. People cannot play twice and each team goes at a time.

5. Other people updating the board is allowed, and even encouraged, however it must comply with the rules above, be accurate to moves picked and be done by someone who knows the rules of chess.

I think that'll be the only move I'll make as demonstration, but I have high hopes for the white people!

I think this is a great idea, but you should probably fix the spacing on the board. It totally looks like the knight is in front of the D column pawn, not C.

Looks fine for me. Maybe it has to do with screen resolution?

Alright, as my first move as commander of blacks:

O my god you guys are such noobs. The board is backwards, firstly. White belongs on the first and second ranks while Black is on 7th and 8th.

And what the hell kind of annotation is PA5 E3? I'm not even sure what that means. (I'm going to guess it means e3.) You don't have to specify which piece you are moving unless you're in a situation where two knights or two rooks can reach the same square.
