Bombing of Hiroshima

I created this animation just for fun. I honestly don't know what to say here.

Enjoy!

The file is 429 KB, not MB.

The explosions and the shockwave effects on the building were pretty decent. And for someone's first movie, the custom scenes are pretty good. Nothing really else that's good about it.

It's important to take inspiration and learn from other movies, so watch some gud movies before starting.

I think the scene where the boy walks to school is really stretched, try making it shorter and adding interesting things, also try more custom scenery.

Old Rivers 03-25-2022 11:32 PM

I liked the long walk. It made the payoff at the end more rewarding.

Also, you probably cannot uncheck the expansions, so you might have to reinstall 3D Movie Maker. :)

Movies in that era looked like this fyi

Bown 03-27-2022 06:45 AM

when the FUCK is someone gonna put this movie on youtube

Kane 03-27-2022 12:32 PM

It's not worth putting on YT tbh. The Riddler cut was a lot better and even that sucked.

The set pieces were really cool near the end, but the movie is a bit short.
I think you did a good job though :)

But they all aren't using expansions. :uh

What they are doing to make it look like it has expansions is using 3D Text, 3D Shapes, and sometimes even Text that you can use for credits.

For example, if they want to make a straight line, they'll use 3D Text, and then they'll type in a dash symbol. (I don't have any explanation on why do they do this, since I am horrible at trying to explain stuff to people.)
And sometimes if they want to make a fence, they'll use (again) 3D Text, but then type the letter 'H'.

Plopilpy 03-30-2022 07:40 PM

Yes, but why is that a bad thing? That's why those movies are so well received, because they use advanced tricks like 3D text.

Bown 03-30-2022 08:04 PM

This Keaton guy is awesome

Use a screen recorder, I recommend ShareX or CamStudio if OBS doesn't work on your PC.

I know what they're doing I'm basically saying if you wanna make something in the style of early 3DMM this is what you should be trying to go for. Drop the default scenery, and don't do super slow stuff where a person just walks super slowly. I notice the last 2 scenes of the movie use custom scenery and has a pretty alright explosion, I suggest you make your whole movies exemplify those parts in the future and you could probably be a pretty good 3dmmer here.

It isn't a bad thing. It's just that I am trying to make a movie that looks like it would be from the 90's.

To put it in a different way, I am making a movie that would look like as if it didn't use any mods, or expansions. Like as if v3dmm wasn't around back then.

Plopilpy 04-14-2022 01:47 AM

There are good ways to do that, and making it purposefully bad isn't one of them. This movie is not good, and as has been said in other threads and on other low-effort movies, the point of 3dmm.com is to watch movies that are interesting and which are innovative. A purposefully bad, trying-to-be-90s movie doesn't fit any of those categories. I have no idea about why you think 3D text isn't fitting with the style of your movie. For example, all of the movies that PizzaLuigi posted (and most other well-recieved movies from 2000-2003) use 3D text, and that is what most members think of when they hear "90s movies". Hell, even some (albeit very few) movies released just 2 or 3 years after 3dmm's release used 3D text and revolutionized the program because people wanted to see interesting things like those movies, not the typical movie that 3DMM was intended for. Jimmy Pozin, one of the all-time most famous 3DMM directors ever, made Litterbug 2 and other very very VERY impressive movies, and he only began using expansions late into the 2000s. He never used v3DMM, not once. Just check out World War III, a movie that was made before 3DMM was even 5 years old. It's not stellar, but it's still a badass movie that uses 3D text and was liked because it portrays an interesting way of making weapons by doing that! Action Joe 2 is one of the oldest movies ever (made 1997!) to have handmade scenery, and you know why people liked Action Joe 2? Because it popularized this style of making movies with scenery that wasn't inside 3DMM's vocabulary, so to speak, but rather movies that push that boundary and break through to make something actually interesting to watch. That is the purpose of 3dmm.com, not what you're thinking of.
