The Tragedy of Pickle Rick Volume One
Haha yes I don't know what this box means but it's required so :)

Let me know if this is good, if the google drive link even works.

The google drive works fine. However, scenes 3-5 did not work for me. You may have an expansion conflict.
As far as what I was able to watch, you seem to have a decent sense of timing and how to move characters and props around properly. This is clearly the work of a beginner but it does show some promise. For instance, the handmade scene of Mario passing an object to Luigi over the table was good and is the kind of thing you should continue to do more of. The main problem I had was that the humor was too random and the story was hard to follow. Part of that was probably just me not being able to watch those three scenes at the beginning, but part of it is also the fact that your characters tend to speak only in soundbites and catchphrases from whatever their from (Pickle Rick and Mario, for example). It would have been better if you told your story with dialogue or text boxes. I'm also generally not a fan of making everyone a character from a video game or T.V. show to begin with, but whatever. Anyway for a first effort, this wasn't too bad. Keep working and improving your skill. Make sure to watch other people's movies (here is a list of the highest rated movies in the archive) and maybe play around with them a little as a way of learning how to animate better. I hope we see more stuff from you. |
Thanks for the feedback! Firstly, I'll try to see if something is up with those 3 scenes. If it still doesn't work, I'll just upload it to youtube. The reason I use soundbites is mainly because I'm not that great at voice acting, but I will try to either voice act or use text boxes in the next one. (Well, actually I was about to upload a quick Jojo's Bizarre Adventures meme that took me like 30 minutes to make and it has soundclips but I will do it in the one after that!) As for my humor, I honestly didn't intend for it to be "LOL XD RANDOM," I'm just not the greatest at telling jokes. I don't have any excuse for the story though. It's just all over the place. The main reason for the pop culture characters is that one of my favorite 3DMM movies is 'The Blue Shell Incident" by Joel from Vinesauce, and he uses mostly VG characters. In fact, Joel's movie is probably the thing that got me into 3DMM. So obviously, I thought it would be a good idea to use a bunch of video game characters. I'll take a look at that list and take some notes. Again, thanks for your feedback.
(P.S. I am watching Trouble in Greenville. So far, it seems pretty funny!) |
I'm just going to upload it to youtube real quick

So yeah I couldn't fix the scenes (at least to my knowledge, on my PC they work just fine.) So here is the movie, all scenes, everything.

Ahhh it must be that machine gun model that is causing the trouble for me. I notice the shortname for the mod is simply 'mpk5' so I would guess that a duplication problem is what's causing the issue. This post makes me even more suspicious that that's the case.

I should've mentioned this, I wasn't trying do dismiss your criticisms, I was just explaining why they are how they are and how I could fix them. I am already working on the second installment, I think I will keep Mario and Luigi using sound clips because I think it is funnier if they just say each others names over and over, but I will use either more voiceacting or dialogue boxes to show story.

Sounds good!
