WHOA HOLD UP...is "Space Goat" a pun on both Space Ghost AND scapegoat?

He explained the origin once. Something about typing a username into a field that had a character limit, and once you'd reached the limit it would replace the final letter with whatever key you'd pressed last. So like, if I wanted to type Trooper into a 5 character field, it would come out as Troor.

Not sure what word he was trying to type (maybe Space Goast) but it came out as Space Goat and he kept it.

Yeah he was trying to type Space Ghost but mispelled "ghost" as goast and S was replaced with T because of the character field limit, so it spelled "Space Goat".

About a dollar a day, I think. Enough to pay for the site probably, but not anywhere near enough for it to be worth me ruining the experience for everyone.

I'd bet it would be quite a bit higher had I not disabled search engines from indexing forum posts a few years ago. Until about 2009, we were getting thousands of hits a month on some thread about a Comedy Central special called "The 100 Greatest Comedians of All Time". It was like the #2 or 3 result on Google for some reason, and was driving up the site ranking. We get very little traffic from search engines now.

Well, I think most of us already have adblock, so it could be sort of like a "if you don't have adblock you deserve ads" sort of thing. But yeah, not for $1 a day.

Definitely leave those search engines off though. I'm pretty happy to hear that actually, and I'm even someone whose real name is very rarely mentioned here, unlike a lot of folks. So nice job, thanks.
