I'm not sure what compelled me to make this, but it might be the most fun I've ever had with 3dmm.

hahhaa the title alone makes me really want to see this. If someone puts a YouTube version up I'll definitely watch this.

Tuna Hematoma 06-28-2012 06:21 AM

That first pic is amazing if it is what I think it is B movie with UFOs on a string?

Pizza The Hut 06-28-2012 06:41 AM

Yep, that was the general idea behind the whole thing.

Eukos 06-28-2012 10:05 AM

YouTube mirror going up

Also I LOVED IT

e: I'm rendering it in 720p with the sharpest settings so it won't look blurred when watching in fullscreen. WILL BE WORTH WAITING.

Nixon 06-28-2012 10:37 AM

AH this looks awesome, i am gonna watch now, will comment about it when its finished

Nixon 06-28-2012 11:11 AM

haha that was great, i loved it.
My favourite part had to be the stunt dummy for the alien when it got its head shot, that was great hahaha .

But yeah, the atmosphere and the music were perfect, and i loved the whole b-movie behind the scenes thing too

Great job, and i think this movie has been great for 3dmm movies so far, considering the releases from omnirom, eukos, me, you, the chain movies etc, this year is probably the most active in quite a while for it.

Great job!

Fix that damn spoiler, dude

Don't forget to watch in 720p :D

Nixon 06-28-2012 11:44 AM

haha i like the title of the youtube video

Trooper 06-28-2012 01:56 PM

Hahaha, this was really odd. I loved all the stage hands coming into shot and various other "mistakes". My favourite was when the alien's head changed before it exploded, hahaha.

Dominator Dan 06-28-2012 01:56 PM

what's the music that plays when the commando is firing the rockets, I LOVE IT

haha, interesting little movie, it's great you had so much fun, it started off strong but later on there were bits were it really dragged at times, mainly the pauses when shooting the aliens, and the fact it was all text-based dialogue

TheCoolGman 06-28-2012 02:11 PM

That was absolutely fun to watch, the cheesy B movie mistakes and the music makes this an instant favorite for me. Can we have a listing of all the songs used?

Trooper 06-28-2012 03:04 PM

Yeah, would have been much better with actual speech. Then you could have made even more b-movie mistakes with the lines too, haha.

Eukos 06-28-2012 03:11 PM

I'd love to work with you together Compcat, if you need any sets, props etc. feel free to ask me - I'd be glad to help you out with your next movie

Compcat 06-28-2012 05:51 PM

Sure, I'll keep that in mind, but one of the reasons I actually decided to make this movie was all the cool unused mods in the database, and I barely made a dent. And then when it comes to textures, I have a personal collection that is balls deep, so I might be overly prepared for further stuff on the mods front.

But thanks a bunch for the youtube, that was very quick and sounds perfectly in sync (I problem I always have with encoding).

Here's a list of the songs:
Vangelis - Blade Runner
Anosphere - Space Fire
Koto - Visitors (The Alien Mix) (this is only played briefly, a "mistake," but still as awesome as these others)
Angelo - Solitary Wanderer
Geneva Jacuzzi - Relay Racer (this was for the rocket firing scene, dan)
Age - Mysterious Call
Spiral - Stars of Eternity

And yeah I know there was a lot of potential gags with voices, but honestly, I think the decision not to have to deal with voices is what made it so fun and easy-going for me. And besides that, I find I just like text-based 3dmm movies these days, they have their own sort of charm and seem to age better.

Old Rivers 06-28-2012 07:52 PM

I like that it had text. I feel like having voices would have taken away from the atmosphere of the movie.

Also, all the b-movie jokes were great!

Tuna Hematoma 06-28-2012 10:00 PM

I disagree with Old Rivers. Having no voices where some of the dialogue dealt with the frustrations of the director/actor not getting lines correct/whatever, would have been better with a voice actor. BUT WHATEVER, it's a small silly movie. 3 Fish.

I also disagree with Dan about the shooting of the aliens. I thought the fact it repeated over and over was great. Showed how "low budget" it really was. Made me laugh.

Ben Rice 06-29-2012 01:23 AM

hahaha this was great

Eukos 06-29-2012 08:55 AM

god I love Stars Of Eternity

Haha yeah. And how Gustave kept looking through his binoculars. Just the same three scenes repeated over and over.

I wasn't talking about that bit, I loved that bit, I mean the bit when the aliens have got out the ship and there's these really long pauses between shooting/impact stuff.

Compcat 06-29-2012 06:18 PM

Yeah, I was trying to do something similar there as well, but I think it just turned out slow rather than funny.

Air Rick 06-29-2012 06:48 PM

this was a lot of fun to watch, and I love how it went from seemingly serious to a sci-fi, low-budget movie.

Also, great YouTube link name, and the "dummy" explosion, and how the background didn't change at all when the captain shot the alien. And somewhere around the middle when the three text boxes went off all at once.
Awesome.

if you ever make the director's cut I'll gladly lend a hand with the voices.
