My 3D work and stuff
So this August I started attending this two years 3d and animation study, with the possibility of getting a bachelor in either Australia or England the third year. It's actually quite nice because the first year is all about the basic 3d and animation right, but the second year the class gets divided into two paths. You can either go deeper into animation or you can go with game design. With my graphic design background, it's only natural for me to go deeper into animation.
I recently finished our first assignment of a total of 4 this first year. The assignment was to create an interior (like a room) or something exterior (like a house, garden or whatever). I went for something interior, and had a shot at my living room. I'm quite stoked seeing as I didn't know shit when I first started! I'll be posting some more stuff in the future if I'm up for it. ![]() From Facebook so I apologize for the quality. |
That's some top quality lighting - well done mate, I love it.
I'm trying to figure out what made me know that the scene wasn't real, though. I think the sofa has edges that are too hard and clean, that's the main thing. The plant is a bit like a Pixar prop. And I've never seen a clock/shelf combo like that, but you're Scandanavian so I'm guessing you probably have...! I guess 3d stuff like this needs to go through a similar process as costume in movies. Someone makes them, new and perfect, and then a second person (the Breakdown Artist) takes the pristine article and makes it looks realistic and lived in, mainly by fucking it up in certain key places. But then I can barely use Illustrator, so who am I to talk. |
When I saw this on Facebook I genuinely thought it was your real apartment. Very cool, and I agree with everything Ben said.
For me, I think the faint giveaway that it's not real is the neat, crisp reflection on the clock cover, aswell as the couch. Also the plant, I think? Plants are insanely difficult though. But it's all totally badass. It's insane what computers are capable of these days. |
Thank you! Yeah everything you see there is in my apartment, more or less. Got that clock for my birthday, it's pretty sweet. We were allowed to use premade plants, because we haven't really gotten there yet. I agree on the sofa and the reflection of the clock. You always pick up on those things AFTER you've handed it in.

The smooth, non-specular material on the bookshelf in the foreground was the giveaway for me. Once you get to texture mapping, that'll be a snap. Nice work! I haven't done 3D in ages, but I always enjoyed scenery modelling.

For this assignment, the task was to make a vignette between 10 and 15 seconds. I went for a made up movie company, focusing on animation and After Effects. It's kinda cheesy but I'll admit I was more occupied with the visuals than the idea itself, because 50% of our grade will be judged by the vignette as a whole. And also with 3dmm, visuals mean a lot for me so hopefully I'll do good!
I got a C on the living room btw, teachers said it was good but there was too much space behind the couch. Anyway, here it is. Please watch it in 720p. :) |
put a table and chairs.

Vignette is cool, by the way, though it feels like the sequence should happen the other way around. (eg, the landscape should start off barren and desolate, and then go all REDUX green and lovely when the company name appears) - unless doing it your way round was intentional? |
It's called REGROWTH PICTURES, not GROWTH PICTURES.
|
so is every thread by Andres from now on just going to be bragging about his apartment
|
I fucking new it was fake all along.

Meh, they're strict. Which is a good thing, and yes it was intentional. What Ash said basically! Quote:
I'm never gonna hear the end of that one, huh. |
Some new stuff! Mainly focusing on texturing.

I'm just bumping this oldie, no point in making a new one. My first real attempt at animation in 3ds max. I think it looks pretty sweet, but I wouldn't be able to make anything like this if it weren't for 3dmm. It's taught me a lot about animation, and I'm so fucking thankful for that now. Can't wait to start on our animation assignment!

haha, great! though i notice there's a bit of an unnatural slowdown before each time a foot hits the floor, might want to get that bit flowing through a bit more, other than that you've pretty much nailed it
|
Sorry for the fastest reply ever but yeah, I'm aware. I couldn't be bothered fixing it since it's only a test. Though I need to figure out how to deal with it, because it's got something to do when you copy frames or something. Instead of making the whole walk cycle, I basically just make a few steps then copy paste it. It's only a matter of timing that one keyframe I guess.
|
You're just giving it a bit too much time for his toes to hit the floor. The moment the heel touches, he should start moving his legs back.
Although he is a zombie so it still looks fine. |
zombies got swag
|
hahaha
|
why is he wearing high heels?
|
He's not, the lighting just makes it look like that
|
oh okay then, still a good animation though
|
I should also mention that the rig is a free character rig on the net, which is ment to be used for animation showreels and whatnot. Focusing mainly on animation, but ty ty. :)

This is something I made a few days ago, I entered it in a contest being held by my school. The theme was "The End". As of now I'm in first place, but there's this bitch right behind me and her work is just embarrasing. It's gonna annoy the hell out of me if she wins so, let's make sure she doesn't. Vote for me!
