I can't believe i'm getting emotional over a band reunion. I'm just so pleasently suprised in the way they looked so happy and comfortable together after 24 long years.

Dave Miles 07-02-2005 10:45 PM

AHH I wanna see it.

Klown 07-02-2005 11:33 PM

Aight heres my incoherent half finished final word. Pls dont call me a sissy girl: i'm tired.

I feel like a real shit because of my initial cynicism and sarcastic approach to live 8 because of my own ignorance and misconceptions of the event. I believed the whole thing to be a circle jerk and a useless fundraiser. I was wrong.

Live 8 is a beautiful example of the principals of human hope and idealism. It's a true example of the power of people and emotions toward a common cause. The real outcome will soon be announced by the G8 leaders. Sadly, they will not reflect this attitude as many leaders are not willing to put pressure on their own economies to help others and they are frightened of the problems that will come with change. However the Make Poverty History campaign has raised awareness temporarily and forced leaders into cutting debt and think about poverty.

But hey, I’m probably totally off right here. It was also a kickass concert too and I will not forget it.

Lizard 07-02-2005 11:55 PM

Ms. Dynamite ruined it.

But hooray for pink floyd.

Rabid Dinosaur 07-02-2005 11:56 PM

How is/was the finale? I stopped watching after Pink Floyd :l.

It was great. Geldoff looked goofy.

Cal Flavell 07-03-2005 03:22 AM

Did anybody else notice that throughout the whole Green Day set in Berlin, there was a guy waving a big black flag with the word "Nazis" on it? What the fuck was up with that?

Jaymond 07-03-2005 03:44 AM

i haven't seen a SINGLE FRAME of live8. and .. i .. the phillie concert and the london concert better be fucken available on TORRENT..
I REALLY HOPE?
i'm gonna go check now. if anyone knows if they are, keep us updated.

Cal Flavell 07-03-2005 03:52 AM

Tim Robbins came out at Berlin and introduced Green Day. That was kinda weird. Almost as weird as Bill Gates introducing Dido.

Seeing U2 and Paul McCartney play "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band", that was the coolest moment.

Lowgain 07-03-2005 04:50 AM

This kid I worked with was supposed to go today but he had to work. His friends had backstage passes, so he got a phonecall from Tom Green. He was pissed off, and partway through the night he went home sick, making me close. He ordered a pizza before he went. He is an asshole.

Gorosaurus 07-03-2005 04:53 AM

Brian Wilson's first two pieces, Our Prayer and Heroes and Villains.. possibly the greatest live moment of music ever to grace humanity. After that, his voice got hoarse a little, but the Wondermints are probably pretty talented, because they picked right up and filled the spaces.

I felt really disheartened that he ended up in Berlin, and not America or UK. It was obvious that only the Americans in the crowd were getting into it (And understanding the cues), and it just felt wrong singing about California Girls in... Berlin. Still, I would've felt just as happy had I of flown out there to watch it.

Paul McCartney was pretty good (They ended with Hey Jude again, it's starting to get predictable. But it always works), The Who were incredible, and Pink Floyd was understandably underwhelming (Visually, not musically!).

The Barenaked Ladies were great, as was Neil Young and Maroon Five, on this continent. Oh, and Jet.. that was real good, too!

I didn't catch a lot of it yet. Anyone know if we might run into some high-quality mp3s of a few performances soon? I'm not talking about the 64kb/s stuff from live feeds, obviously.

You spent your entire saturday night in your house watching television.

You found a free alternative energy source?

So? My friends and I were broke so we got together and watched it over a few drinks. Nothing wrong with that.

It's better than being outside on a saturday night, looking like you.

Cal Flavell 07-03-2005 06:18 AM

Haha... owned.

Griffon 07-03-2005 10:43 AM

The Who were overwhelming, and they played two of my favourite songs! I'm just annoyed that they couldn't stay on longer! But Floyd were awesome too. I thought the tribute to Syd was nice as well. It's great to see them together after such a long time.

Yeah, but besides that fact, my favourite 3 Who songs are "Who are you" "We won't get fooled again" and "Baba O'Reilly"

It's not my fault if they're the 3 CSI themes. I just like those songs.

Kunio 07-03-2005 01:24 PM

Well, yeah. CSI just helped spreading the love a bit more to music ignorant cunts, like moi.

Griffon 07-03-2005 01:37 PM

lol, well my parents are big fans of The Who, so we've got some albums. I listened to them, and boom.

Maggot Corpse 07-03-2005 02:38 PM

The who were amazing.... Pete can still fucking do it... and Roger doesn't sound shit, infact his voice was very impressive.

PINK FUCKING FLOYD.

How great was that. Seeing Waters forgive and forget almost, the vibes between the band were awesome and there was even time for a few smiles and grins. :) Bought a tear to my japs eye.

Scatterbrain 07-03-2005 03:23 PM

Pink Floyd were fucking mind-blowing...shame I HAD TO LEAVE!!!! :annoyed :no (do we have any other emoticons I could use to register my complete and utter disgust?!)

The bus company refused to wait for late people which meant leaving during the Who...which was NOT good! And Peter Kay pissing around on stage...not funny in the slightest...

Lord Trasher 07-03-2005 03:32 PM

Fuuuck, found a video torrent of the London event but it's over a gig :(

I hope this gets replayed this week, pay tv or otherwise.

Actually, I just found a Windows Media file ripped from AOL's webcast. Check the Pink Floyd thread in NMD at SA.

How can I describe my reaction... well, lets just say anyone who saw it live, I envy greatly.

Klown 07-03-2005 04:35 PM

I want a full copy of the london show in good quality. BBC VERSION NOW.

Gorosaurus 07-03-2005 05:12 PM

I've got Coldplay's three songs on mp3... they might just've been the best performance, but I missed any video of it

Apfigur 07-03-2005 08:00 PM

Haha! The first thing I saw was the singer of Linkin Park, and I thought "Bono?"... and then I understood... it was the the awfulness of Linkin Park. Eh. I'm tired.

Not amazing, their frontman was pretty shite. Bittersweet Symphony was gorgeous though.

So pleased I watched it, absolutely amazing afternoon/night. There had better be a cd, and it had better feature the Bill Gates bit.

Yes! That is an amazing song and I loved their performance! Neither Coldplay or U2 had the same energy I'd seen when I saw them at Glastonbury (coldplay) or Cardiff (U2) in the last week. They both had shows that evening elsewhere, which is why they were on first which was kind of a shame since they're obviously more capable of putting on a much more exciting show!

The Razorlight guy gave a great little speech though, Ha!

Frankie Weindel 07-04-2005 12:02 AM

I was at the Philadelphia Live 8 for about a 3 hours. Saw Linkin Park and Jay Z. Lots of people there.. and shit loads of trash all over especially by the street curbs. Got pretty close, i could see the stage pretty clearly but the people on it were still too small to see. It was awesome.

Andres 07-04-2005 01:33 AM

I'm seeing the Pink Floyd one and some old dipshit is making noises while he plays a solo in WISH YOU WERE HERE.

Bobby Swisha 07-04-2005 02:11 AM

I want the video of the Pink Floyd show. SEND IT TO ME.

It's in the studio version of the song too. Personally I'm not a fan either but whatever the fuck Gilmour wants to do is his business.

Jaymond 07-04-2005 06:40 AM

they should release the concerts seperately on DVD.
i would fucking buy them.
they better do that.
