The Legacy of Saradomin, Part II - UNFINISHED (plus script & FAQ)

Welp, here it is: the small amount of LoS 2 that I actually made, for anyone here who'd still be interested in seeing. There's not a lot there, and there's a few empty scenes simply put in to help with music timing (not that timing was easy to do in this fucking program), but I had a nostalgic look at it today and the finished stuff that is there, I'm still quite pleased with. I figured after working so hard on it (most of the effort went into fleshing out the script), I should at least give you what I've got, or it was all for nothing. Well, very little, rather.
SCRIPT >> http://www.mediafire.com/?qncjytqk1ny I'd recommend maybe reading the script first so that the scenes in the unfinished movie make sense, but honestly, you can do what you like, really. Bear in mind that the script breaks a few professional script rules (some long descriptions and one or two segments I hadn't finished where the story jumps ahead, although it's about 90% finished), but it wasn't designed for the real movie industry, obviously. However, I feel I improved the quality of dialogue in this one (which was one of LoS 1's major drawbacks, among other things). But then, it's all a matter of opinion. If it catches your interest, read on, if not, no worries. This is only for people who'd be interested in finding out what I had planned story-wise, so I don't expect everyone to jump at the opportunity to read a 79-page 3dmm movie script. I just wanted to share it, because I feel LoS 2 would've been a much stronger movie than 1. It felt more like I knew what I was doing this time around. I'm sure the script is probably a more interesting read to me than anyone else, but there's some cool moments and twists and things you might like. Maybe. We'll see, anyway. Now, if anyone's interested, I'll answer any and all questions about the story. I was going to do an FAQ of sorts but it's a lot of effort that might not be worth it. If you'd like to know, feel free to ask here. I'm working on mirrors at the moment. Rapidshare only allows ten downloads per uploaded file, without a full account - then again, that may be enough. And lastly, thanks again to everyone who supported the first film through its four to five years of tedious construction. Love y'all. |

Hahaha, loving my avatar next to the movie title.

What was made so far was great, there were one or two shots which I thought were compiled incredibley well specifically the shot of the snow temple with the leaves n' stuff blowing into the shot of Vladamirs lil' fort, plus the awesome slow mo ninja star throw shot.
It's a pretty epic disappointment to know that the series will not be finished but at least you gave it your best shot. Damn the lack of motivation around here, damn it to HELL. :( I certainly hope this isn't the end of your 3dmming, are there hopefully any plans for something new? |
Thanks Ben, but to answer your question: err, well no.
It's a sad thing to accept, but the 3dmm side of the board is no longer in a state fit to release anything to. In my opinion, anyway. It's not going to get any more active without a miracle. If any fun new community projects like Charlie come along I'd happily join in, but I don't expect them to at all. I get the feeling that most of us here know this, deep down, but it's a sad thing to have to admit. I'm still writing nerdy fantasy bollocks as a creative hobby (got two other worlds on the go), amongst other things, but 3dmm's time has passed. One thing's for sure though - I will force my future kids to use this shit even if it physically hurts them. I'm just glad I got something out there while I could. |
Oh, I'd watch this if I wasn't on a mac. Got a vimeo/youtube version coming?

I wish I could watch 3dmm movies

I enjoyed what little there was to the film. The cinematography really shone at a few points. Those black-clad Crashes were also really cool.
|
That was awesome, though unfinished. People like you inspire me.

Damn, Will. Nice. I've not abandoned Omnus, it's just become a little something to do when I'm not busy with life, but this makes me want to do some work on it. Damn shame this won't be finished, but I know what you mean. I'm pretty much making my shit for myself at this point just for my own entertainment.
|
Thanks guys, nice to know it mattered to some. Dustin, you should update us a little on Omnus. Show us some clips or something, arouse an audience. Response and interest from 3dmm.com was, for me, the highest form of motivation, and while it'll certainly be a lot smaller nowadays, it may push you a little more. And if worse comes to worse, you can always do this. It's not great but it's better than nothing.

there are still plenty of people willing to watch and critique 3dmm movies. it's just that there aren't any.
|
I've actually been doing a bit of converting scenes to video to edit outside of 3dmm.

Watched this. Some very beautiful scenes and shots. It looked extremely professional. Honestly, I'd say stuff like this is a little too good to be wasted on 3dmm; it definitely wouldn't get the kind of attention that it deserves. It's a bummer that this wasn't finished though, because it looks amazing.

I think you nailed the opening scene, you really did, I really felt there was an epic battle going on (even if it's a little weird seeing dozens of Billys or whatever he's called running around, but what can you do about it, eh), and the arrow shot - beautifully done, movement felt just right. Usually not a big fan of constantly panning cameras and "badass" slow-mo effects, but you pulled them off well.
Too bad to see it unfinished, kind of wants me to go back to the old days when the 3DMM-related forums were flourishing! |
