Role Models

HAhahahhahaha that movie was so damn awesome. As good as Superbad I think.

your whispering eye

Beast 11-10-2008 01:10 AM

Someone else had to have watched this.

Liam Brocklehurst 11-10-2008 01:26 AM

Watched the trailer and REALLY want to see it.

Notch Johnson 11-10-2008 01:49 AM

its gotten great reviews and looks pretty funny

Beast 11-11-2008 05:32 PM

Go watch this.

Beast 11-18-2008 07:34 PM

What the hell, why haven't people been watching this??

Liam Brocklehurst 11-18-2008 07:35 PM

It's not out in UK yet :(

Jason Ruiz 11-18-2008 08:34 PM

I saw it and it was good.

Happy?

NearHi 11-18-2008 08:54 PM

I saw it and I thought it was hilarious.
I didn't like SuperBad as much as the rest of the world, but I don't think I'd put it in the same category as SuperBad; I don't think that everyone else will compare it to SuperBad.

Jason Ruiz 11-18-2008 08:57 PM

David Wain has his own voice. Role Models really can't be compared to any of the big studio comedies of the last 2 years. Mainly because he's not Judd Apatow or Adam McKay.

I liked it. Good movie. A little too cliched and formulaic though, and the sentimenal parts didn't quite connect. However, there's enough laughs to make it a good comedy.

Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott are both very funny, but Jane Lynch easily steals the show.

Best part:
The video of the mentorship program that ends with Jane Lynch dancing away from the screen to reveal her doing the same dance from behind the television. Absolutely brilliant moment!

Skittlebrau 11-19-2008 05:21 AM

it was in the trailer, you know.

The Chinese Jew 11-19-2008 05:30 AM

Yeah, I watched the trailer again after seeing the movie. Good thing I forgot about that part when I actually saw the movie.

Skittlebrau 11-19-2008 05:33 AM

I actually really liked that part in the trailer, and have no reason why I posted that. Sorry bout that Ching. I think I'm gonna see this movie tomorrow.

Jason Ruiz 11-19-2008 05:34 AM

I liked whatever Jeff Ching DIDN'T like about it.

Notch Johnson 12-02-2008 12:23 AM

saw it Thanksgiving and it >'d.

Phil Williamson 12-02-2008 12:33 AM

I thought it was just ok. For one thing, I really, really hate Seann William Scott. Worst actor ever. This had its moments, and I generally liked the LARP stuff, but I certainly wouldn't put it in league with Superbad.

Notch Johnson 12-02-2008 09:30 PM

really? i thought he was pretty good in this.

and honestly the only thing i didn't like was the LAIRE stuff. it was kind of funny, but seemed to belong in another film.

it seemed like it was just a lazy way to force a climax and resolution without the characters actually learning or gaining anything. seriously. everything had gone to shit for everyone, but then they SUDDENLY UNITE TO DEFEAT SOME CHINK WEARING A CROWN. then suddenly Paul Rudd's girlfriend and the kids' parents show up and forgive the main chars for everything. and i know it's a stupid comedy and doesn't matter but this kind of bugged me.

Air Rick 12-15-2008 05:18 AM

just saw this. Not too bad. It was different, I'll say that much.

It kind of had that feel like it was written by a bunch of kids in a screenwriting classroom, but, yeah, had its moments where it was just fun and feel-good.

Maritheclap 12-15-2008 09:32 AM

Jane Lynch did no show stealing. I felt her part was to much... which is something I really hate- the way movies hit you over the head with "funny". Subtle can be just as funny, and then you don't feel like the director thinks you're an idiot.

But I did think that dancing from behind the TV set was funny.

Allergic 2 Life 12-15-2008 02:40 PM

sean william scott is great, i think hes hilarious

While your usage of the word "chink" is kind of unneccessary, I do agree 100% with your criticism.
