He's pretty fucking stupid for behaving like that. Seriously the only ones that might respond positively to that kind of behaviour are people who already will without a doubt vote for him. My dad is going to vote for Mccain and even he said he was acting like an asshole.

Agreed. And he's done it three debates in a row. Everything about his demeanor suggests that he doesn't have any real respect for Obama, from the smirks, to the eye-rolling, to the chuckling, to the sighs, to his fidgeting and impatience. He obviously didn't know Obama's wife's name, awkwardly calling her "Mrs. Obama" and "your wife" when he brought up their families. He's never addressed Obama directly as "Barack", while Obama has addressed him as "John" many times (though this might be a generational thing).

Obama has smirked and chuckled at McCain's answers too, but not in a particularly aggressive or disdainful way. You can see that he's clearly listening when McCain talks during a splitscreen. McCain was struggling to contain his contempt and disgust. He comes off as a decrepit, lurching, bitter old man, eyes darting, tongue flicking, mouth twitching, body shifting. He can't sit still. He tries to mug for the camera and the audience. He sneers. He snorts. He looks around wild-eyed and incredulous while Obama speaks, as if to say to the in-studio audience, "Can you believe this idiot child!?"

I hesitate to compare it to Al Gore sighing at Bush in the 2000 debates, because Gore was (inadvisably) doing it for effect. But McCain is this twitchy, reptilian, corpse-like thing, giggling, grinning, trying on expressions, jumping at shadows, incapable of meeting his opponent's gaze, unwilling to humanize him, quick to belittle him. I'd always kind of assumed his explosive temper was exaggerated, but the guy I saw debate on stage for 4.5 hours was an immature creep.
