Fucken loved it!

Bown 10-31-2007 11:08 PM

These should really be done as movies. Go to "Movies" at the top, and then "Add Movie". Of course, then there's the problem of it going in the other forum I suppose.

Anyway, this is a really cool film, with impressive scenery and animation, even if it is sort of vague near the end :p

Liam Brocklehurst 10-31-2007 11:11 PM

Yeah, I feel as though I should have it as a proper Movie thread, dunno, just would like it under my profile :(, heh.

I apologies for the stuttering and give thanks to the comments. :)

Stefan 10-31-2007 11:18 PM

Once I'm done releasing all the movies I'll go and officially add them all to the database.

wow....just...wow

Love the way it looks. That shader (or is it gradient?) mod looks amazing in this.

Gorosaurus 11-01-2007 03:30 AM

Very impressive short! Is this the first movie to be released with the shading in full use? That's quite something to have under your belt.

The movie appeared to be animated very well, with only a few instances of certain objects not moving in place with others (The windows come to mind), however the framerate cut certainly hurt the movie's fluidity. Was that a problem with the recording process, or does the shading actually slow down 3dmm?

A very nice effort, and I could see a lot of cool things coming to fruition here and there. At times it felt like a monster movie! That's because you did a wonderful job with creating the atmosphere of panic. However, after that initial chaos, the movie seemed to devolve into odd psychological horror. Were we supposed to recognize the skull thing?

Either way, excellent job, and I hope to see more movies of this caliber and along this avenue.

Mabdog 11-01-2007 06:06 AM

fucking insane. you're without a doubt one of the best new 3dmmers.

Simon Sav 11-01-2007 09:41 AM

That was a brilliant short, the direction at the start was especially good. Never quite seen anything like it with 3dmm before.
Will it actually play in 3dmm?

Jesterfoot 11-01-2007 09:53 AM

Holy crap Liam, that was freaking awesome. Some of those scenes, like the motorcycle by the buildings looks like 3dsm or maya quality. Great direction too, even though It didn't really have much of a story, It was still interesting to watch.

I don't think the framerate is effected so much by the gradient, it was mainly the speed of my computer when I came to recording really..
Thanks so much for the crits, I was a little thin on plot, it wasn't scripted or anything so I guess I lost track of a substantial story.

Yeah, all of it was made in 3dmm apart from the credits, obviously, though the sounds were added in after..

Cubert 11-01-2007 01:32 PM

Hahahah holy shit. I would really like to see the full quality .avi released, this was awesome. The first act sort of outshone the second, but still both were amazing. That new gradient technique was used so well here, hahaha brilliant.

Dominator Dan 11-01-2007 03:42 PM

THIS WAS REALLY AWESOME
as always, yeah i'm a crap reviewer so i'll just say great use of the shading gradient. I wish i could make movies this short, they always end up TOO LONG FOR YOUTUBEA RGHGS.

Very good directing, and amazing scenery!
and so forth

Liam Brocklehurst 11-01-2007 04:03 PM

Holy shit, I never realised I get this sort of feedback, thanks so much guys!
I have the .wmv uploaded here if anyone wants it. :)

Howell 11-01-2007 10:12 PM

That was great!

Raz 11-01-2007 10:21 PM

Wow that was really good!

I've got to say it kinda fell apart after the bit you sent me up until (when he's suddenly in the black scenery). I was really interested to see what was happening and where it will go. But I think you did say it wasn't meant to be anything serious so fair do's. Having said that, even though the ending didn't make much sense it was nice and effective.

The scenery has improved a shitload, some nice new textures instead of the boring brown blocks. The 3d shader thing has made it look very nice. I already told you I liked some of the movement in the scenes, maybe try a few more exciting/interesting camera angles next time. Also, I liked the handheld camera thing you were going for at one point. It was just a nice short overall, making use of a new look with the shaders and it was a quality little Halloween short.

Jim Raynor 11-01-2007 10:23 PM

Fucking awesome. The jumpy frame rate hurts it a bit, but not nearly enough to ruin the film. The custom gradient is great. Downloading the high quality .wmv now.

Ben Rice 11-02-2007 01:29 PM

This was very nicely pieced together. The direction was swell. The scenery and animation were good, abit choppy on one or two occaisions but very good for a starter. I must admit I didn't have a clue what was going on. But I still enjoyed it.

Michael Sandford 11-04-2007 04:34 AM

I loved it.
especially the sound! the sound was such a higher quality/was so better mixed than any other 3dmm movie, ever.
you definatly used the .avi format to your advantage in so many ways.
it was great and very refreshing.

hopefully for your next release, you might make something a bit longer

8.5/10

Liam Brocklehurst 11-04-2007 01:45 PM

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.
And funny you should say that about the sound Michael, cos sound is usually my total downfall with stuff, heh.

Trooper 11-04-2007 01:52 PM

fucking amazing. best movie i've seen in a LONG time
