The "black" transformer dies lolol
|
damn i wish i hadnt instinctually revealed that spoiled text
|
Also Starscream dies but comes back in the 1990's Transformer series Beast Wars, in which his surviving spark was sent adrift into a transwarp gate towards Prehistoric Earth, where he temporarily took control of Waspinator's body and fun times were had for nearly 30 minutes.

Yeah, I had low hopes for this one. I just wanted a something at least on par with the writing of the cartoon and big fucking robots beating the shit out of eachother. It had the big robot shit kicking part...but man. The dialogue was painful. Too much focus on the humans. Not enough on the titular characters.

I really couldn't tell what was happening at any given time.. certainly one of the most discombobulating movies in the last year or so.
I think the main problem was that the designs were just bad. The only one that actually made visual sense on the screen when moving was Optimus Prime, and that's because he actually had solid parts to him. All of those sprockets and gears and tubes are just eyesores, and it made it a chore to distinguish the characters or focus on the action. Megatron had a pretty good design, too, but it was easily lost in the mesh of all the other look-alikes. The action was pretty good, but there was a lot of unnecessary bounding around instead of robot-on-robot power struggles. A wide shot once in a while wouldn't have hurt, either. The best part of the movie, without a doubt, was the voicework. |
I'm somewhat disappointed that the soundtrack isn't more like the 80's version. So over the top! Those were the days.

I'd be cool with the same movie if it was made by people who got the whole culture it came from, but it's not the case. So to me as a fan, I think Transformers deserves better treatment. |
Saw it yesterday with my housemate. It was pretty much what I expected it to be, which is a good action movie with bad dialog and some stupid moments. A lot of the comedy took me by surprise though, it was genuinely funny. Most of the robots were bastardized as I expected, and because of their complex designs a lot of times it was really hard to tell who was who in fights. That and the blurry, jarring fight scenes in general.
There were some really cool fight moments, like back flipping while dodging missiles and quake rocket jumping with hiw own guns and of course when Optimus took off bonecrusher's head with his sword (these are not plot related spoilers). The robots themselves also acted pretty stupid, never in the original cartoon would Optimus say something like "oops, my bad" after stepping in a flower bed. Seriously Bay, are you retarded? Optimus and Megatron were still pretty badass in the movie despite their moderately flamboyant designs. A lot of stuff could have been cut, though. And a lot of the lines and general things were stupid. Things like cracking the code on that black kid's computer; seriously that was on of the worst attempts at representing hacking I've ever seen, even worse than in Hackers. And at the end of the movie, haha jesus when the autobots told the kid to climb to the top of the building, that was so retarded. There's these gigantic robots who could easily carry him and they're like DUDE CLIMB THE FIFTY STORY BUILDING WITH MEGATRON CHASING YOU ARE YOU RETARDED WHY WOULD WE HELP YOU UP THERE, even the army dude in that scene was like you're a soldier now, hahaha suck it go take the most valuable thing in the world up there yourself.. And seriously wtf at the end the safest place for the "Allspark" (awful name btw) is in the middle of a city? They need to bring it there to be picked up? Yeah that makes TOTAL sense. Unfortunately it's very clear Bay sacrifices all of his integrity as a director just to work in a fight scene idea that he likes. Overall I give it a 5.5/10. I'm definitely glad I saw it, didn't expect much, and there's plenty to complain about. |
I loved that scene when the chick lifted up the hood of his car and it focused on her perfect waist glistening in the sun.
The animation was good too |
I feel the emotional moments were short lived, like when the black transformer died nobody really seemed to care, at all.
|
hahaha, that's no different from any other movie
|
jon steele is bitter

It looks alright to me. At least they didnīt make it for kids, like I thought they would.

I didn't understand the logistics, and I've never fully watched the show. The Decepticons could look like people? The GIGANTIC All-Spark can become the size of a Rubik's Cube? What what...?
This movie was fun the first time around, but after that, not so much...and basically all of the plot points and stupid moments were covered in the aforementioned posts...but there's so many moments in this film where it turns into wall-to-wall exposition... Annoying. |
Oh, and as much as I like John Turturro, I found him positively irritating in this... Sure, I guess we're not supposed to like him, but he's not even like....funny-irritating..
|
i just watched this on HBO. funniest movie ever.
|
I don't understand how people bump like half-year old threads and shit.
|
because, much like Peter, I was also watching this on HBO yesterday.
And far be it from me to start a thread that is a duplicat--oh...wait... |
