Ninja Gaiden 2 - The Dragon Born Official Preview
3 Attachment(s)
After so long of being hush-hush and keeping very secretive about what is actually in the project, I've decided that it's been dragged on too long. I no longer deserved the anticipation that some people still did manage to harbor. Well now I'm showing my whole hand. There's not many other secrets that I'm holding back after this- you get to see the full art style, a portion of the v3dmm application, and years upon years of animation. I held back very little in what is being shown here, but trust me.. that doesn't mean that you're seeing everything that there is to see. Not by far!
I really have been working on Ninja Gaiden 2, slowly as it might have been, for this entire duration. And it's time to finally draw the line. Although there's still a lot of work left, I will not let this project consume me beyond what I choose to let it. It will be done in 2007, in one way or another. I really hope that you enjoy this preview; I think you'll be able to see that I put my heart and soul into most every frame. Oh, and it was pretty well synched for me, and I went through moderate lengths to assure that it should still hit near cues whether it plays a little faster or a little slower. Let me know how it goes! YOUTUBE stream: |

The fact that this has old school HMCs makes my mouth water. While it is not nearly as "pretty" as v3dmm models, its damn sure more respectable and even damn sure even more impressive, and that is FACT

WOW! Holy Moly that was brilliant and it was just a preview. Dude that kicked ass.
Especially scene 11 with the volcanos or mountains (or whatever they are) in the background and the rain/water effects in scene 24 are sweet as. |
I'm so so glad this is back up off the ground (I don't know how on the ground it was in the first place). The action looks incredible and the clash of 3D and 2D looks ungodly. The return of the Millenium Beast definitely adds to it.

Amazing, Goro. As others have pointed out, the use of both 2D and 3D really looks beautiful. The one shot with the two ninjas jumping on top of the trees was really, really well done. I had to go back just so I could observe it in all its beauty afterwards. The way the music build up (what is that from anyway? I loved it) and the action kept getting better... ah, good stuff.
It wasn't always easy to make out what was happening in each shot, but I don't know if it's the movie's fault or if it's just me. Either way, this looks great. Can't wait. Oh, and thanks: this was just what I needed to motivate myself to do some more 3DMM. |
OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. I MEAN, OH MY FUCKING GOD.

That was beautiful. Watching this preview to me, is watching a master at work. Brilliant animation, incredibly cinematic and I love your eye for amazing shots.
Top stuff Goro, this is VERY highly anticipated. |
Very very good. As has been said, nice and 'old-school'. I'm looking forward to it.

I wrote a few paragraphs about this in quick-reply, but accidentally hit one of my quick links so it it's all gone. In short, the trailer was excellent - far more than the small teaser I was expecting, in fact, if this was the entire movie I'm still coloured impressed. I can't imagine the amount of work you put into this, every frame of every scene is packed full of depth. One small problem (and it's not really one which will concern the full movie) is your choice of music. I felt very underwhelmed, it was too tranquil and more of a 'travelling scene' type of music.
Looking forward to the full movie, obviously. |
omg

That was damn cool. Pretty much flawless animation all the way through, and some really clever and mindblowing scenes. The crouching tiger-esque forest dual looked especially neat, I hope there's a bit more length to that sequence in the full film. Of the couple times where you show the characters faces, it looks very convincing; like the old dude in scene 87. Just the way you blend differnt styles in general is amazing.

You fellas make it all worth while :) :)
I really appreciate the feedback, and I'm honestly surprised at the reception. You guys are gonna make my year The music is Promentory from The Last of the Mohicans. I knew I'd have to use that song in a movie someday, but I didn't see any chance in the future. Better now than never! |
This looks really awesome, and I want you to know that if I had the strength of will to find 3dmm and re-install it, I would watch this.
|
There is a stickied thread at the top of 3dmm Chat. It has been there for SEVEN MONTHS. We have made finding 3dmm and its expansions AS EASY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE SHORT OF FLYING TO YOUR HOUSE AND DOING IT FOR YOU.
Besides which, there is a YOUTUBE LINK IN THE FIRST POST. |
Very nicely done, the animation was excellent, as always, I'm guessing the 2D effect stuff was only for the flashbacks and stuff, because there was always the blue and red ninja which are clearly Ken and Aedrex (I think I forgot how to spell his name :().
Is there a special reason that some of the scenes had no scene in the backround at all? Unless it is the same kinda case as the first Ninja Gaiden. :P ANYWAY, I'm tracking off, great work Goro, the teaser has made me so hyped for this again, looking forward to the movie. |
The 2D animation is 20 times more impressive than the 3D animation in this preview, and it is certainly a big highlight. The difference between the two styles is like night and day to me. I greatly prefer watching the 2D stuff.
|
I greatly prefer it as well!
Problem is, it's much harder to do in 3dmm. Or at least, it's limiting where/how the camera moves. Thanks for the input! And Ben, it's Aedrax.. very close! Also, very perceptive |

No, I have all of that. It's just not installed. Quote:
To be fair though, it's under download mirrors which I wouldn't bother looking at if I didn't have 3dmm installed, because they typically link to .3mm files. |
SCHWEEET! Downloading :D
I'd almost given up hope. EDIT: ...And that was outrageously good. ![]() Look at that! You've like... 'tricked' a shallow depth of field in 3dmm. |

"In fairness to myself, if I didn't read the post, how was I supposed to know what it said?" |
Why would I look under download mirrors if I didn't expect to find anything of use to me?
