Backalley Brawl
2 Attachment(s)
I, (with help from Adam Bibilo) have created what is, to my knowledge, the first interactive "movie" using (v)3dmm. Sure, a few films let you "choose" the ending, but that was the simple and underwhelming matter of skipping to scene 9 or scene 10. And if you chose scene 9 it automatically ran straight into scene 10 ruining the whole thing. So on Flash I decided to fill this gap in the market, and with some very helpful tutoring from Adam compiled "Backalley Brawl".
The game starts with a little, very crudely animated HMC drinking in a bar then walking outside. He's ambushed by two thugs and you "play", via clicking to select certain attacks and "fight stances/positions", as the attackers beating the aptly named "Loser" character to death. Once defeated, you get the choice of a few, more lovingly animated death sequences, "finishing him off." The "game" will hopefully be fun (and worth the 50MB download- there's a lot of gifs and wavs) and maybe give a few people some ideas. If you want you can search for the 3 easter eggs, a secret attack, a secret death and a secret ending. Enjoy. And any issues with a flash being in the Movies section, see here; http://www.3dmm.com/showthread.php?t=20266 Click the "!" buttons for attacks. |
Wow this was super awesome. I really like the animation and deaths! Make more but with a story of some sort. That'd kickass! :)
|
I really enjoyed watching/playing this, the animation was great and the deaths were just as good. I think you should make another like that but longer. :D
|
How bloody pointless was that, i thought right up untill the end when the green man was shot, i WAS the green man, and that game had just glitched. Two commands you simply repeat till he gets shot?
I admit the animations were excellent, and very entertaining but i think your going to have to try a little harder, if you aim to achieve the first ever 'truly' interactive 3dmm movie. |
Shut up.

I reckon if we get more good feedback, then Cubert will probably make another one. This one was more of a test to see if it could be done in 3dmm.
|
Hey Balloon upload the file on psychoholiday, filelodge sucks.
Will comment later. |

Excuse me, but are you telling ME to shut up. I'm guessing you were more challenged by the 'game play' than i was? Don't try and deney me my opinion, moron. |

Okay, my mistake. Still not convinced it raises the games dynamics much though. |
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah sorry I guess I should have made it clearer the "!"'s were actions. I'll do that now.

Deadlink. |
Oh, I've put it up but yeah, doesn't seem to be working. I would have put it on there from the start but it's 50MB, so file limit and such.

Yeah it's not exactly a game kind of game, more interactive movie. So dynamics weren't exactly the focus point. But yes, I do have plans for another of this type if Adam agrees to help once again, I've picked up an interesting new way of using the button feature, hopefully you'll enjoy that more. If it gets made, no promises yet. |
this isnt the first interactice movie by a long shot.. looks ok though, id probably try it if i still had 3dmm somewhere
|
Only speaking for myself here, but i'd rather see your're great animation skills put to better use in an atual film.
Can you recommend me any of your movies? |
You don't need 3dmm, just some kind of internet explorer with flash 7 or higher.

On my profile are a few I've done, but none are fantastic I'd say. If you liked this style try A Clockwork Forum or Gangland Teaser. But neither are fatally spectacular if I'm honest. Like I say, I may start work on another of these if I can find time and a way to cut down filesize. |

Cool, thanks man. |
That was actually pretty neat, I want more!

I thought you'd never ask. |
ehhh I guess some of the animations were alright, though the 'movie' itself was just stupid, but I guess that's not what you were focusing on. The idea of the ! marks for actions was a good one, and the automatic keeping-track-of-health business can't be done by 3dmm (although the viewer can just keep track himself), so, in the end, this isn't a whole lot more interactive than any other choose your own adventure movie, and this had far fewer choices to go through. Heck at this rate I'm almost more tempted to suggest just using Flash itself and you'll get a better result.
So, yeah, I dunno. This actually wasn't bad for a concept demo, yeah. I just wonder about the concept, but go ahead and prove me wrong. |
