Hero (WinXP)

Frogman asked me to create a music video to dedicate Adrian Pikios for the 2002 Awards show. Adrian had quit on the same day as Will Maltby, Jon Sapone, and Prof. Spaz, and the loss of them all, while not unexpected, was quite a hit to the community. By the time the awards had come around, though, it would be more appropriate to do a positive compiliation of their efforts, rather than a requiem of sorts.
I chose my favorite song of the time, Hero by the Foo Fighters, both because I could stand to listen to it enough times to synch a whole movie to it, and because it kind of fit the bill (See the text at the end of the montage). The movie kind of put itself together.. I simply cut out all of the boring scenes from his movies, and kept the very best of the bunch. Unfortunately, the first time around, it was around 4 minutes too long. Cut,cut, snip - I got it to about the right time not too much longer later. I spent the next two or three days synching and re-synching and then synching again because 3dmm always changes its mind on its own speed. But I got it just perfect for Windows 98, which is what was released for the Awards show. Unfortunately, 80-90% of the community was on XP by then, so the music went too long, and nothing synched. But for the two or three other people who watched it in 98, the work probably did show! I really like this montage.. I think you can feel the heart put into it, both by Adrian, and me in choosing the clips and timing. There's a lot of emotion here, and there's a whole heck of a lot of great cinematography and animation. Believe you me, it was quite a task cutting so many scenes away! I never got any formal feedback on this piece, other than a few words from those I sent it to before the Awards. I've always been eager to hear if anyone else cared for it, or even if they felt it was too over-the-top. I think Adrian liked it, though he never said anything specifically about it; I think he did. This was originally HEAVILY synched to Win98. This re-synched version was never publically released, and was finished on July 16, 2004. Many of the original cues are gone, but new ones are created, and it finishes right on time. |
How about making 1 mirror the 98 version and 1 mirror the XP version?

I dunno, I thought this might actually be a bit more neat, but if anyone's got a problem, it's no sweat to do just that

Wow. I got goosebumps. I should really some time to redo some of this stuff in more modern 3d animation programs.

Yeah, I seem to remember that Bodily Functions 2 is still on its way
BTW, that RmP scene with the dead guy and the vines raising up around him.. that'd look incredible anew |
