New Sound Tag

A new sound tag has been added to provide support to more browsers.

Internet Explorer still behaves the same way, and uses the ActiveX controls provided with Windows Media Player.

If you use any other browser, the quicktime plugin will be used, assuming you have quicktime installed on your computer. If you do not, then a simple link is displayed, much like you had before.

New Tag: "SND"

Demo:

Special thanks to Travis Wells for writing this script.

Thank FUCK! FINALLY, I can use/hear sounds without hitting the quote button and copying/pasting.

Thank you Goat.

Space Goat 12-09-2005 12:24 AM

I will work on a way to change all the current snd2 tags to snd, and then get rid of that old tag.

Demented Ferret 12-09-2005 12:24 AM

Shut up, n00b.

Edit: I swear that said 'Test Account', and I was making a funny :(!

Oh, and this is awesome by the way - works without a problem :)!

Lord Blazer 12-09-2005 12:53 AM

Dyer, Quicktime not working properly.

Demented Ferret 12-09-2005 12:57 AM

Go into quicktime and make sure you set the MIME settings properly to work with audio and stuff.

Lord Blazer 12-09-2005 01:02 AM

There we go.

Kieran McIlwain 12-09-2005 03:47 AM

<3 Goat - Quicktime rocks.

Raz 12-10-2005 06:29 PM

Yeah this is much better. Thanks Space Face.

Thrik 12-10-2005 07:42 PM

Awesome.

You should make it so that it doesn't display for OSX-based browsers, though.

Travis Wells 12-10-2005 07:47 PM

Doesn't? Why would we turn it off for OS X browsers?

Space Goat 12-10-2005 07:52 PM

To annoy Will, of course.

Slime 12-10-2005 08:06 PM

Awesome!! Thanks Travis!!!!

Brimz 12-10-2005 08:09 PM

This is wonderful, thanks guys.

Apfigur 12-11-2005 03:43 PM

Day of Glory.

Notch Johnson 12-13-2005 05:21 AM

so..uh, can you get it to convert the snd2 tags to these soon? because my safari-using ass still can't hear the sounds

Notch Johnson 12-20-2005 01:38 AM

:-(

Kayl 12-20-2005 09:23 AM

Top stuff!

Space Goat 12-25-2005 08:13 PM

My complete disgust and utter disdain for all things QuickTime has caused me to re-write this bbcode tag. It now prefers to use the WMP plugin over QuickTime, assuming your browser supports it. So, QuickTime is now only used when the WMP plugin is not available.

Hopefully this will fix most of the performance issues people were having with the QuickTime plugin. I know it fixed mine.

QuickTime sucks.

Raz 12-26-2005 12:39 AM

Well, I ain't no technical person but it's working for me.

Pirate Balloon 12-27-2005 05:13 PM

Get in there, the quicktime version wasn't working for me.

James McCloud 12-28-2005 01:02 AM

Haha, British slang sounds so weird over the internet.
